Governor Kim Reynolds commenced her 'Legacy Tour' on March 12, 2026, at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center in Cedar Rapids, marking the beginning of a six-stop journey across Iowa.
Addressing a gathering of over 100 attendees, Reynolds expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Iowa's governor, emphasizing her commitment to the state's progress.
She highlighted the collaborative efforts with the Republican-controlled House and Senate, noting that such unity has been instrumental in advancing key legislative initiatives.
U.S. Representative Ashley Hinson, R-Iowa, joined the event after attending a welcome ceremony for soldiers from the 34th Infantry Division of the Iowa Army National Guard returning from deployment in the Middle East.
Hinson praised Reynolds' leadership and reaffirmed her dedication to representing Iowans at the federal level.
Jeff Kaufmann, chair of the Republican Party of Iowa, commended Reynolds for her steadfast commitment to the party's core principles, including national security, immigration reform, and economic policies.
Outside the venue, a group of protesters voiced concerns over Reynolds' policies, particularly regarding environmental issues and LGBTQ+ rights.
One protester, Patricia Bowen, criticized the governor's stance on civil rights and environmental policies, expressing hope for more inclusive leadership in the future.
Reynolds' 'Legacy Tour' will continue with stops in Davenport on April 30, culminating in Sioux City on September 10.
The general election for Iowa's next governor is scheduled for November 3.
