Governor Kim Reynolds launched her highly anticipated 'Legacy Tour' on March 12, 2026, at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center in Cedar Rapids, kicking off a series of six statewide stops.

Outside, demonstrators voiced concerns over environmental policies and LGBTQ+ rights, with local activist Patricia Bowen calling for more inclusive governance.

 

Reynolds urged citizens to stay engaged as her tour heads to Davenport in April and culminates in Sioux City in September, ahead of the November general election.

A fast-moving grass fire scorched roughly 35 acres of timberland near the 900 block of 44th Street SE in Cedar Rapids on Monday evening.

 

Firefighters arrived after 5:00 p.m. to confront intense flames and dense smoke, strategically protecting nearby homes while ensuring no evacuations were necessary.

 

By 9:00 p.m., the blaze was contained, though crews continued working to douse lingering hotspots.

 

The cause is still under investigation.
